Vucko and Hornet's motion system for Spotify Wrapped 2022 is built on a single challenge: translate a data product into a visual experience that feels personal, celebratory, and consistent across an enormous range of global touchpoints — social, web, DOOH, in-product. The motion language, developed from Spotify's in-house design identity, had to scale without losing coherence.
What makes the work instructive is the system thinking behind it. Individual animations are energetic and visually distinct, but every element derives from the same set of motion principles. The toolkit was designed to be used by third-party partners worldwide while remaining immediately recognisable as Wrapped. Coherence at scale is the discipline on display.
